How do I use Webmail?
When you need to access your mail while traveling or otherwise away
from your primary computer, you may wish to use Webmail. Host 17's
Webmail service is accessible using any Web browser (such as Firefox or
Internet Explorer). Webmail is a secure way to read and respond to your
mail while away. Remember though, if you wish to keep messages for
download to your usual mail client, do not delete them, but leave them
in your inbox.
To access Webmail for your account point your browser to http://webmail.yourdomain.com. You will be re-directed to a
secure version of the site. As such you might be asked if you want to
continue due to a problem with a security certificate. Acknowledge that
you want to continue and you will then see a screen like:
Once there, login with your username (i.e. user.domain) and password. Once authenticated you will be taken immediately to the Read Mail screen.
To set your Webmail preferences, click Preferences. You may also read any message by clicking the name under the From
column. You are free to create folders to help organize your mail, send
mail and create an address book of frequently used contacts, however,
keep in mind that this information will not be available from your mail
client (i.e. Thunderbird, Outlook). Also, all mail stored here counts
toward your allowed disk space included with your account.
